Joe Jordan and Mother Jacqui Gore are the Loudest Family in Philadelphia

I first heard Philadelphia’s Joe Jordan on a mixtape by on a tenacious street level music label mix I got outside the Border’s on Broad. Though aqwardly mixed and pressed on a plain silver cd-r, Jordan’s Twisted Vision was a treat for my just recently cut on fishbone and sex pistols. And of course, the it’s was always a treat to see that the city does hold it’s share of black rock artist. Dispite the tight guitar solos and surprising soulful vocals, it was  a one time list and was from then on banished to the wasteland that is my itunes library.

That was a good two years ago and, in the meantime, it seems Mr. Jordan has been busy. This weeks City Paper features as it’s cover feature Joe Jordan and his 57 year old mother/drummer with a more extend story of how the due took on the local metal scene. Ms. Gore says this of her progeny’s upbringing:

“Even when they couldn’t hold on, the kids needed something to do, something constructive,” says Gore, smiling at the memory. “They had something like ADD but we didn’t give ‘em Ritalin or any of that shit. We gave them guitars and drums and they mimicked us.”
